Let’s get to know more details about them, to help you make a smooth decision on which one to add to the cart.

1. Light beaded rope

They are heavier than other ropes and are made of a rope with segmented, plastic beads in the form of tubes. For beginners who are still practicing rope control, their added weight provides extra feedback. You get to know more about where the rope is, making it easier to jump. Beaded ropes also make a sound when they hit the ground, this makes it easy for people to follow and catch up to the rhythm. Most people will start with this rope to learn a few basic tricks. For example, cross, footwork and even mic release.

2. Heavy beaded rope

Just like light beaded rope, they are suitable for beginners. The only difference is that the beads used for this rope are heavier. The heavier your rope, the more resistance there is during the turns. This is great when you want to build up your strength and work on your arm muscles. Using this rope will also train your coordination and jumping form, making it easier to learn tricks and other basic skills.

3. PVC Rope

Also known as a licorice rope. These are more maneuverable and lighter than beaded ropes but heavier than wire ropes. PVC Ropes are perfect, if you want to make jump-roping a habit, especially if you envision yourself doing stunts. The light-weightedness makes it easy for jumpers to learn tricks and combos, like TJ.

4. Wire rope

Also known as a cable rope. A cable rope is a common sight in CrossFit and is constructed of a wire between two grips. They are the lightest available ropes and are made for jumpers who want to do double-unders (swinging the rope under your feet twice per jump). It is only recommended to use wire ropes during speed. Beginners are not recommended to buy this rope.

What to do after buying a rope?

Beginners should concentrate on strengthening their coordination and stamina so they can jump for five to ten minutes without falling. It is advised to start by jumping two to three times per week and gradually increase your duration by no more than 10% every two weeks. You may also think about interspersing two-minute jump rope sessions in between sets of resistance-training exercises. To help you kickstart your jump rope journey, we have created a 4-week training programme.
